Apple pie’s new outfit! With a few drops of rum flavouring…. and a sea of love

Apple pie is a classic dessert made with seasonal apples. We have reimagined apple pie and given it a new look.

Ingredients:

Pasta:

250 g flour

125 g cold butter, cut into cubes

1 packet baking powder

1 tablespoon of granulated sugar

1 pinch of salt

about 4 ice cubes

Apple filling:

6 medium apples

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

1 tablespoon breadcrumbs

20 ml MaxAroma Jamaican Rum

Preparation:

Prepare the dough: crumble the flour, baking powder, butter, sugar and salt with your hands until the butter pieces are finely crumbled. Gradually add the ice and mix until you have a smooth, medium soft dough. Form into a ball, wrap in cling film and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to rest.

Preheat the oven to 190°C.

Cut off the top 1/3 of the apples, this will be used for decoration. Peel the rest, remove the core and grate. In a bowl, mix the apples with the sugar and place in a colander to drain. In a bowl, mix the drained apples with sugar, MaxAroma Jamaican Rum flavouring, cinnamon, lemon juice and breadcrumbs. Let stand while the pasta is being made.

Divide the dough into 6 equal sized pieces, on a floured surface, stretch the dough into a circle about 10-10 cm in diameter, then transfer each into an 8 cm pie dish.

Fill the pastry with the apple filling.

Bake the pies for about 30-35 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and the apple filling is browned and set. Allow the pie to cool slightly, then decorate with the cut tops of the apples.

This classic apple pie is a delicious and warm dessert, perfect for cold winter evenings or anytime you crave apple flavours. Enjoy your meal!
